Let's talk about our individual energy patterns or do you call it chi the essence of who you are? Maybe you prefer the term force or simply describe it as the up and down movements of daily life.
I watched a beautiful 'live post' recently on instagram which made me stop and consider patterns of our energy flow and how we can use them to harness our best self and wellbeing.
I've always been fascinated by energy patterns - what encourages them and what diminishes them, but it's only been in recent years, that I have really come to listen to my body and become truly familiar with its calls to rest at times, while on other occasions encourage movement.
Self discovery .....
I think discovery of my own energy patterns has taken the majority of my life to understand. Knowing what my body’s energy levels really are and how to use this information accordingly.
If only I had learnt to listen in younger years, I would have known how to plan (as much as you can) working around energetic phases, migraine episodes and my menstrual cycle, then maybe burn out times, fatigue and periods of stress might have been lowered or even avoided..
Inspiration .......
Last week, I watched a 'live post' on Instagram by the wonderful Devapathways - https://www.instagram.com/devapathways/ (I have her permission to mention her site here) who talked about female cycles being like yearly seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter) It really hit a note for me and planted a seed of thought that has remained with me.
What if we looked at our energy and wellbeing as we do seasons? Would we then be able to plot an individual life force pattern that would help us to take on our daily tasks and activities?
For example, knowing that for a certain time of the month, I will be tired and require more rest due to migraine episodes (related to hormones - my Winter), then I can make sure in advance that I've got nourishing warming meals stored in the freezer, take time to slow down and rest and maybe perform work that is more workshop based. For me also, this is a time to hibernate and talk to chums via text rather than perhaps in person. To help me through my Winter periods, I love to use my hormonal essential oil wax melts in a burner, run hot baths and sit snuggled with a blanket reading.
Then once this phase of my energy cycle is over (usually it lasts about eight days) I move into my spring/summer energy period where I really have a lot more spark. At this point, during each month, I want to meet up with family and friends, I crave to cook light healthy meals and enjoy time working in the garden. I like at this point to use my Orange and Grapefruit essential oil wax melts to help keep my mood light and energised.
Both oils have an uplifting aroma which may help with feelings of anxiousness, bad moods, or stress.
Then when it's time for my body to slowly develop into my autumn phase (just before any migraine and tiredness is due), I begin to slow down, enjoy pots of tea in the garden (weather permitting), write my blog and reflect on creative ideas. My essential oil aromas for this time are most definitely Lavender, Chamomile & Thyme plus on some days Cedarwood Geranium and Bay.
Moving forward.....
So you get the picture by getting to know my life force (chi patterns - energy patterns) and by listening to my body's energy flow, I can support myself and find balance in my daily life. It's not perfect and you cant always get the energy flow right but by being aware of our life energy patterns we can help ourselves.
One caveat I would add.........
..........is that a little time each day either to note down in a journal or reflect upon while maybe having a bath, allows you to feel the phase that your body is in. Trying to reflect on this while the tv is on, phone is being scanned or carrying out an activity is not the best time. If you want to give this a go, try if you can to check in with yourself five minutes a day (at a time that suits) you and reflect on where you, your mind and your energy is at.
If this blog resonates with you I would love to hear your thoughts and or advice on how to keep a check on your energy. Just scroll right down to the bottom of the page and leave your message.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a beautifully balanced day.
