January subscription
Hooray its January!
I know not everyone thinks like this but I have come to love this reclusive, frosty, cold month.
It does help of course that my birthday and our lovely son’s birthday fall during the month named after ‘Janus’ (the god of beginnings and transitions in Roman mythology.
I also love the call to action that January brings to declutter, start anew and feel the endless possibilities of what is yet to come.
Essential Oil Melt 1
This month’s subscription box is a celebration of all that January can represent to us.
The first melt combines sultry, yet fresh and crips aromas and considers this months new moon as its sparkling influence.
Known as the Wolf Moon, it is named after the howling that can be heard in midwinter and will be present on 28th January from 7.16pm onwards.
To me, wolves are beautiful proud creatures, who in times gone by have been given a bad reputation by humans. Just think of how we use them in our fairy stories to depict the darker side of human nature!
In fact wolves are amazingly intelligent pack animals that look after their communities, share food and howl - not to scare but to communicate that no wolf is alone, they, the ‘vocal’ wolf, is present too.
As parents (and step parents) wolves are caring, protective and are known to nurture their own cubs and those of others. In my opinion, these characteristics really are those which we as humans can aspire to in 2021.
Aromatic Melt Wolf Moon, Ingredients
Filled with pure essential oils of:
Patchouli - known emotionally to help us connect to our own body, improve self love & acceptance, this oil is a grounding aroma that is very useful for mindfulness, Tai chi or yoga.
Tangerine - emotionally this oil is uplifting and can help create and encourage creativity and happiness.
Juniper Berry - emotionally juniper is supportive for a restful nap it is said to offer spiritual support and give the inhaler of this aroma courage.
Jasmine - offering inner support and strength; emotionally this oils help to break old patterns.
With the addition of organic juniper berry dust, jasmine buds and real silver leaf for a magical sparkle. Did you know a Celtic belief is that on a full moon you can make a wish when holding something silver.
Overview of melt:
The top fruity note of tangerine will be the first gorgeously warm aroma that you will sense. Although fruity it is not sweet, rather warming and tangy. With just a small touch of jasmine to offer the very smallest of sweet florals ready to prepare your senses for the sultry woody middle and base aromatics of Juniper Berry and Patchouli.
When melted, the wax and oils create a light amber liquid that is transparent. The silver leaf and jasmine bud/s will float on or near the surge of the wax. Once cooled the wax and oils will become solid once more.
On blending these oils and then using the melt myself I found this curation to be a very personal and relaxing melt. While feeling grounded in the moment, I also felt calm and happy within the moment.
Essential Oil Melt 2
I’m not a cleaning fanatic but there is something so pleasurable about relaxing in a room that has been cleansed, de-cluttered and organised.
There is almost a peaceful tranquility to the atmosphere, where heart rates can slow down and the mind seems to gently open up to endless positive possibilities.
To support a January room cleanse I have blended a combination of oils, which I hope will help to lighten the atmosphere , bring in the fresh and open you and your home up to new and calming opportunities.
An old tradition that focuses on a January clean sweep is that of opening the door of a room and sweeping with flourish the old year out. You can take turns so everyone get a go with the brush too!
You may well be more likely to vacum, these days but having an opportunity to cleanse, organise and create a calming environment is good for our wellbeing.
So, to help you with this and new tasks / thoughts in general, I have curated the second January melt entitled ‘Clean Sweep.’
Aromatic Melt Clean Sweep, Ingredients

Overview of Melt
With fruity powerful top notes of lemon and lime this melt awakens your senses and cleans the air. I found the aroma to give me a fresh and spring like feeling to the day. The addition of the middle citrus note of May Chang helps to balance the fruity top notes with the clean and fresh note of eucalyptus. I have found this melt to be supportive when wanting to concentrate and get organised.
