Are you ready?…….
for the beautiful events that are next week:
The Summer Solstice and MidSummers Day.
Not to be confused as the same event, we have the Solstice on the 21st and MidSummer on the 24th.
Using white sage during these astronomical and meteorological events has been a tradition by many cultures over many centuries.
If you are looking for ideas on how to celebrate these special days (based on more traditional practices) then here are some ideas for you:
Light a candle and place it in a window.
Sit nearby and allow yourself a little time to relax and focus on the flame. Reflect upon all that you have achieved and endured this year so far. Be positive and praise yourself for good actions of support and love.
Melt/burn white sage essential oil melts or sage bundles.
As they melt close your eyes and imagine the aroma bringing positive botanical energy into your home and into your wellbeing. Breathe slowly and relax. For more details on the white sage, lime and cedarwood essential oil melts that I make just head over to my shop page.
As our ancestors did before us, gather herbs and make something special for loved ones.
For example you could make a bouquet garni for those who like to cook, a lavender bag for those who need rest or herb biscuits for those who need nourishment.
Finally try making a mandala or wheel .
Made from garden botanicals and objects, this is a lovely creative opportunity to work with some of the botanicals from gardens to create art from nature.
Don’t worry so much about the end result, concentrate more on the enjoyment of creating, taking time to really look at the botanical objects you use to create.
For more information on making a Mandala, have a look through my blog post entitled 'Creating a botanical mandala'.
I wish you a beautiful Summer Solstice and a very merry Midsummers Day for 2021.
