Creating Rest & Recuperation
As an essential oil artisan and keen natural botanical gardener, I like to create essential oil blends for my hand made sustainable soya wax melts that you can use to support your wellbeing, create a mood and align your soul and spirits with nature.
For rest and recuperation, I wanted to bring together a collection that offers you two aromas. One particularly for the type of rest that seduces you into sleep while the other helps you to relax and rest while going about your daily activities.
So that’s what I have done. Working in my cosy garden workshop, I have blended together a collection which I think will help you and your aromatic self, to slow down.
My workshop desk, view and the Rest and Recuperation Box
By creating these aromas, I too have had the experience of slowing down and enjoying the aromas, but its not just about essential oils, we also have to stop and place ourselves in a situation that allows us to breath deeply, sit quietly and take five minutes for ourselves. I know its not always easy, especially when there is so much going on in life, but I promise you, find five minutes to breathe and appreciate essential oil aromas and it really can help your day.
The Rest & Recuperation Collection
As with all my products, these are not just wax melts, these are little container's of pure essential oils that will sooth you, reawaken your feelings and allow you to rest and recuperate from life's daily stresses. By placing essential oils into soya wax, I have the opportunity of offering you essential oils without you having to purchase an expensive bottle of oil.
So this collection combines two wonderfully soothing aromas, of 14 pure essential oil melts (7 of each aroma), allow me to tell you more:

Would you like to know how to make my mini smudge bouquets?
My recent mini smudge bouquets based on the botanicals of the season.
I'm pleased to say that its the time of the year that I can now introduce my mini smudge bouquets back into my shop.
Mini bouquet have always been popular with my customers but often I like to share how these little treasures are made. Partly so you can understand the natural element to all my work but also so that you can try using your own home grown ingredients for your wellbeing. A positive practice both in creation and aromatics.
I recently put onto my social media a little reel showing how my mini bouquets come together, link below:
Now, here in my blog I thought I would give you a little step by step guide for your own creations. So have a look at the botanicals growing in your garden, botanicals that dry well for a mini bouquet smudge are: roses and rose buds, bay leaves, rosemary, thyme, hyssop, lavender, broom and even small picecs of hydrangea can work too.
You will need at least five stems for the bouquet to work well. Cut to approx 10-15cm (no longer) then either place on a sunny windowsill to dry the stems out or hang upside down in a warm room to dry (an airing cupboard or utility room is ideal.
Once the stems are dried, you can bring them together, laying one next or on top of another. Using twine, or vegan wool (I find this works well) tie the stand at the bottom of the stems and begin to wind in a vertical clock wise motion. When you reach the top of the stems, turn the the twine and wrap vertically in the other direction. See photo for how the twine is wound around.
Once complete, allow a day or more for the botanicals to combine and any last bits of moisture to evaporate.
Your mini smudge can now be used as an air cleanser or wellbeing ritual.
See below for my top tips of use and the history of these gorgeous little botanical bundles.
History
Originally the practice of smudging began as an indigenous culture ceremonies in the Americas for spiritual cleansing and giving blessings. These days I like to think of them as a natural house cleaner or natural decorative.
Smudge bouquets (usually known as sticks) can be made from many different herbs and flowers but ideally the plants should be grown naturally without chemicals and pesticides.
The herbs & flowers of the smudge bouquets are bound together using string or twine. They can then be used to smudge or strung up over doorways, hung in bunches or scattered in bowls for decoration.

Tops tips and practical advice.
Light one end of your smudge, then after a few seconds blow out the flame and allow the bundle of herbs to smoke naturally.
For safety, please ensure that visible flame is out before moving on.
The smoking smudge is now ready for use; begin by allowing the smoke to circle around the body of the person using the stick. You can do this in a gentle brushing manner, either by softly waving the smudge stick around or by using a feather to waft the smoke around the user.
It is always recommended to use a receptacle to catch falling embers and to serve as a resting place for the smudge bouquet. A shell or ceramic plate may be useful here.
You can use a feather or hand to direct the smoke around the room or area that you wish to cleanse, while doing so, you can also meditate on positive intentions for you and the room.
For a more in-depth use of smudging you will find numerous pieces of advice on the internet, but I like to stay with cleaning and positive intention vibes.
When you have finished using your smudge stick EXTINGUISH your smudge completely, smother the end and examine closely to ensure the stick is completely out.
I always run mine under water and leave outside to be completely safe.
Remember:
Your Stick may continue to burn if not completely extinguished.
Always keep away from children
• Falling Embers can ignite soft furnishings.
• Falling Embers can harm carpets
• Smoke can be considerable so opening a window may be required to ensure you have something to smother or snuff the flame ready before you start.
What been going on:
I've really enjoyed watching the birds begin to congregate again in our family garden. We now have pairs of Robins, Blackbirds, Blue Tits and Gold Finch that we see regularly from garden nests, filling up on suet pellets and sunflowers seeds. We have also started using fat logs (sounds disgusting I know and which have meal worms in them) these have been hung from a tree and have been the source of many a large bird meal.
So we look forward with interest to see how many little chicks appear over the coming months. Have you noticed any lovely garden chums, visiting your green space?

Garden plans
We are very lucky to have been able to clear a part of land which will now give us even more area space to grow lavender and a variety of cottage garden goodies.
So the next few weeks is all about potting up some lovely bare roots and then when its frost free time getting them into lovely warm soil. Hopfully if all goes according to plan I will show you some photos of this patch through blogs and social media as time progresses.
